Sing Your Own Song of Seasons
by Amee Shah

Summer flowers came and went
Like sands in an hourglass
Time keeps on ticking
Wrestle it down to stop
but it won’t
So settle into its flow
Listen to the song of swallows
And sing your own song of seasons
Greet the iridescent wings of elms and maples
And walk under the golden canopy of ginkgo
Follow the trail of piney autumn bonfires
Catch the flinty sun ray piercing silken branches
The world has caught fire
Amber, Gold, Burgundy
fast gobbling up the green
How glorious it is
to walk like Kings and Queens
With colorful sentinels
rising up alongside allées
Showering us
with season’s last blessed leaves
