BAY AREA NEIGHBORHOODS

MURALS DURING A PANDEMIC
A Visual Tour of a San Francisco Neighborhood
by  Pat Koren

One of the disorienting things about the times we are living in is that many things are the same, and at the same time so much has totally changed. I can walk down the residential streets in my neighborhood and everything looks the same as it was before COVID. But I go a block and turn a corner, and I see boarded up stores; a street that buzzed with activity is now muted. At the same time, I am grateful for all the artists that have enlivened the dreary streetscape of endless plywood facades with their colorful murals.
